Joel L. Cohen, MD (FAAD, FACMS) is an internationally recognized expert on aesthetics and skin cancer. He has lead global task forces on lasers, energy based devices and injectable aesthetic treatments. He has been an author on over 324 medical articles and book chapters. Dr. Cohen has also co-authored 3 hard-cover academic textbooks (including being the lead author on one of the largest books on Botox and other botulinum agents). He is the Director of AboutSkin Dermatology and Aesthetics, as well as AboutSkin Research in metropolitan-Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Cohen has been named a Top Doctor by US News and World Report, as well as 15x Castle Connelly Top Doctor (2012-2026) and also 12x Top Doctor in Denver Magazine (called 5280, named for the altitude of the Mile High City). He is a Board-Certified Dermatologist, and is Fellowship-trained in Lasers, Aesthetics Dermatology and Mohs/Dermatologic Surgery.

He is on the teaching faculty of the University of California Irvine as an Associate Professor of Dermatology — where he recently was voted “Faculty Teacher of the Year.” Dr. Cohen has been involved with resident teaching for two decades serving as a preceptor for both the American Society of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), and was credentialed as co-director for a fellowship program.

Dr. Cohen has received many prestigious awards including the Melanoma Research Foundation Humanitarian of the Year Award, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) Public Service Award, the ASDS Patient Safety Hero Award, the ASDS Excellence in Education Award, the ASCDAS Distinguished Service Award and the ASDS Traveling Mentorship and Teaching Award. And he has received the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology Career Achievement Award.

Dr. Cohen has been quoted in many newspapers and magazines including Vogue, TIME magazine, Glamour, Elle, Allure, The New York Times (x4), Reader’s Digest, Shape, Consumer Reports (x9) etc. And he has recently participated in ringing the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange after giving a 10-minute presentation in the NYSE Board Room on sun-protection.

Samantha G. Stoler, MD, is a Board-Certified Dermatologist who has been with AboutSkin Dermatology and DermSurgery since 2011. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. She has previously been awarded a Patient’s Choice award in Chicago. Dr. Stoler completed her dermatology residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Stoler is originally from Westchester, New York. She received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Michigan, where she was elected into the honor society. Upon graduating from the University of Michigan, Dr. Stoler left Ann Arbor and headed back to New York to attend medical school at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn. She was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society as a third-year medical student—an honor received by only 10 percent of medical students—and graduated magna cum laude. In medical school, she became interested in the skin and dermatology, and participated in both clinical and laboratory research, where her passion for studying dermatology continued to grow.

Dr. Stoler prides herself on the relationships she develops and maintains with her patients. She offers medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologic care to patients of all ages. She loves building a rapport with an entire family and addressing the issues that are specific to various age groups, such as acne with teens. She has two daughters and enjoys offering advice from both the perspective of a doctor of medicine and also a loving mother.

Her husband is an educator in Denver, and together with their kids, they appreciate colorful Colorado and all that it offers for outdoor fun.

Stephen C. Ho, MD, is a Board-Certified Dermatologist who joined AboutSkin in 2012 after practicing in Boulder County for more than 12 years. He has a wide interest in the field, including medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Skin Cancer Foundation, and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Ho was honored by his patients at the Meridian Boulder with the Top Physician Award in 2011 and 2012. He is a regular volunteer for free skin cancer screenings in the community, including the 9Health Fair and the Skin Cancer Foundation Road to Healthy Skin Tour. He is also involved in dermatology education by lecturing to internal medicine residents and primary care physicians in the area.

Dr. Ho grew up in Central Florida just outside of Orlando. He received his undergraduate degree in 1992 with a bachelor of science in biology from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), graduating summa cum laude. Subsequently, he attended medical school at the University of Chicago, graduating in 1996. Dr. Ho completed his dermatology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2000, where he served as chief resident.

Outside of work, Dr. Ho enjoys an active lifestyle with his wife and son, including snowboarding, hiking, running, and cycling. He has been a member of the local Runner’s Roost Race Team since 2010 and regularly participates in marathon races all over the country, including the Boston Marathon in 2015.

Brooke E. Rothstein, MD, has joined AboutSkin Dermatology, as a board-certified dermatologist.  A native New Yorker, Dr. Rothstein grew up on Long Island. She completed her undergraduate and medical training in Boston. She received her bachelor’s degree from Tufts University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.

Dr. Rothstein attended Tufts University School of Medicine, where she graduated at the top of her class with research honors and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Society (AOA). During medical school, she dedicated a year to clinical trial research — during which she implemented and designed clinical trials for psoriasis, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, and various other skin conditions. She remained at Tufts Medical Center for her dermatology residency training, where she was selected Chief Resident. She was awarded the AOA Carolyn L. Kuckein Research Fellowship grant and won first place in the “Rising Derm Stars” competition for her research.

Dr. Rothstein has published multiple original research articles on various medical and surgical topics, including several research papers co-authored with Dr. Joel Cohen. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Rothstein moved to Colorado to enjoy a more active lifestyle and be closer to family and friends. She enjoys skiing, traveling, family and her mini labradoodle (Chloe).

Talitha Sarhan has been part of AboutSkin since 2019, bringing 15 years of experience as a seasoned Licensed Aesthetician. Her expertise spans lasers, microneedling, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and dermaplaning.  Holding a B.S. in Biology from the University of Virginia-Wise (2001), she established aesthetic licensure in 2008 from the Yvonne De Villar Scientific Skincare institute. She was nominated for Best Aesthetician by Northern Virginia Magazine. Talitha is committed to delivering personalized skincare and treatment with a medical approach and a spa touch.

She is originally from the town of Pound, in southwestern Virginia. Talitha comes from a musical family, including Bluegrass legend and Grammy award winner, Dr. Ralph Stanley, her distant cousin. Her journey led her from a career in Medical Technology in Washington D.C. to a passion for aesthetics. After graduating college, she worked as a Medical Technologist at LabCorp for 5 years in Microbiology, then at Quest Diagnostics for 10 years in Radioactive Immunoassay. She obtained certification in aesthetics while working full-time at Quest Diagnostics. Her aesthetic career began at PR at Partners in Manassas, Virginia. Before moving with her family to Colorado in 2018 Talitha developed a passion for medical aesthetics with Germain Dermatology in Charleston, SC.

Emily Rager joined AboutSkin in 2020. She is a licensed Aesthetician & the Cosmetic Supervisor at AboutSkin. Emily developed a passion for skin care at a young age through her struggle with acne. She is passionate about helping her patients become more comfortable and confident in their own skin. She prioritizes comprehensive care by actively listening to her patients, addressing all their concerns, & developing a personalized treatment plan to address their unique needs. Emily specializes in dermaplaning, DiamondGlows, chemical peels, microneedling, and lasers. Emily is also an expert on non-invasive cosmetic procedures within the BTL Suite, including Emsculpt Neo, Emtone, Emface, Emsella & Exion. With her extensive knowledge and experience administering the services within the BTL Suite, she can advise on the best treatment for body sculpting, skin tightening, muscle toning, & pelvic floor health.  

Originally from Sioux City, IA, Emily moved to Colorado in 2015.
